Installation Guide — Shade Pole Setup

1. Fix the Base
Use four screws to firmly fix the base to the ground or any required surface. Ensure the base is level and tightly secured for maximum stability.

2. Attach the Adjustable Clamp
Adjust the clamp to your desired height. Insert the four D-rings into the clamp, then tighten the bolts and nuts with a wrench to lock everything in place.

3. Assemble the Pole Sections
Connect and tighten each pole section one by one. Make sure to identify the top pole—the one with the cap—and finish the assembly upward from the base.

I love that it is very sturdy and strong and provides a lot of shade. It is weather tolerable in this Arizona heat our second year having this. It really protects your vehicles from the sun. it also is very nice to be able to move the cars out and have gatherings underneath without having the heat bearing down on us. The color is beautiful, just as pictured has not lost any color at all. This by far was a good decision.

Super easy install. No worries about taking it down in winds. The color is visible from a distance! I use two one Khaki and one Grey Cross cross over the deck. Even in 50 mph winds these were sturdy. Be sure to use long enough screws attaching it to the house. We used 4x4x 8 posts that we lag bolted into the decks frame..actually pretty simple for two 70 year olds. Be sure to measure correctly for your layout!

It fit like a glove. really well made. really helps keep the leaves out of the pool. provides shade, you can really feel the difference when you step under it and it still helps heat the pool. I tied it off to stretch it before I permanently mount it. well worth the buy, I have one over the goldfish pond and a 10x10 deck, 10x18 patio. they hold up very well.

We originally ordered the wrong size, decided to use it elsewhere, and reordered another size. It is great quality, I just used our ratchet straps to get it setup and they worked well enough we will keep using those. It is perfect even in light rain so far, it gives our back deck shade and it is perfect for the price and coverage. if you don't professionally install these things or you just aren't shade sail installation inclined, four small ratchet straps work perfectly fine.

Honestly this sun shade EXCEEDED my expectations! The dimensions were spot on exact, but the best thing about it is, it held up without a rip or tear through the entire hurricane helene! The material on this item feels thick and of quality material. It came with string but we ended up buying carabiners for each corner bc we didn’t want to chance it with the string. The strings didn’t feel thick and strong. It looks fancy once it’s up. It had a lot of creases which are going away slowly as the sun hits it and creases smooth out. Super easy to use and put up. It covers what we need it to cover. As far as when the sund direction is facing and time of day some areas will not be shaded. The shape is also what we needed based on our yard. We hooked each corner on the walls of our house and got some beams from Home Depot to attach the other side to. Once it’s been sitting in the sun it will stretch so you’ll just have to adjust as it stretches.

This was the first sunshade I’d ever installed. It’s great and the quality & color are perfect. Provides nice shade and it feels at least 5-10° cooler under it. Great value for the price too. We worked on this thing for weeks - adjusting the height to fix sagging, pulling it tighter because it stretched a little after a rainstorm. It’s WORK. Worth it in the end though.

For proper drainage, it is advisable to have at least one corner set at a lower height than the others, tilting the surface by approximately 40°. This ensures effective rainwater runoff.

It is also crucial to consider the changing path of sunlight, not only throughout the day but also across different seasons. This will help determine the optimal positioning of your shade.

For instance, if your shade sail provides sufficient coverage during midday, it may not be as effective in the afternoon. To address this fluctuation in sun shadow, it is recommended to increase the overall area of the shade, particularly on the east and northeast sides.

How to prevent sagging and water pooling in the middle of shade sails?

Size selection:When choosing a shade sail, opt for a size smaller than the coverage area (check our Measure & Installation guide below for detailed instructions). This allowance will leave enough room for tensioning and adjustments, minimizing the risk of sagging in the middle.

Proper Installation: Ensure that the shade sail is correctly tensioned and installed at a suitable angle. This helps water to naturally run off the surface instead of pooling.

Correct Slope and Angle:Design the shade sail with a sufficient slope or angle to facilitate water runoff. This prevents water from accumulating on the surface and causing pooling.

Regular Maintenance:We strongly recommend not leaving the shade sail exposed to rain for extended periods. During rainfall, at least one corner should be detached to prevent water from accumulating in the middle of the shade sail.

How can I prevent my shade sail from tearing?

We recommend adding rope at the connection points to provide flexibility and reduce excessive tension on the shade sail. Avoid overtightening during installation.

How to shade an irregular or large area using shade sails?

Combining several shade sails presents an effective solution for shading expansive or irregular areas. There are two approaches to achieve this: installing the shade sails beside each other or slightly overlapping them.

Opting for the overlapping method offers the advantage of eliminating any gaps in shade coverage that might occur with a side-by-side setup. To ensure the sails remain undamaged, it is advisable to keep a minimum distance of 12 inches between them, thus preventing any chafing between the fabrics.

Do large size sun shade sails have seams on them?

Due to fabric width limitations, and depending on the size ordered, your shade sail may have seams.

To ensure both an aesthetically pleasing appearance and uninterrupted waterproof performance, we make sure to place the seams along the central axis or midline, ensuring symmetry on both sides.
